HomeBlogFAQs About Screens

Window screens similar to what we have today have been around for roughly 200 years. Before wire window screens were invented, some families fought insects by using cheesecloth. Screens in Cocoa, Florida

At BNP Screens & Seamless Gutters, we offer a variety of options for screens so you can enjoy your Cocoa, Florida home’s outdoor living spaces and permit fresh air into your home without danger of mosquitos, birds, and other unwelcome visitors. We have gotten a fair number of questions about screens over the years, so we thought we’d share a few:

Do I need to worry about my screens rusting?

Nope! Modern screens are made from aluminum and fiberglass, so they do not rust like those you might have had on an old house up north.

How can I clean my screens?

Window screens can be vacuumed to remove dust or taken down and washed with soapy water or a vinegar bath. For screen enclosures, use a pressure washer on the lowest setting. If you do not have one that has multiple settings, you can use a water hose.

Can you change my screens to a different type?

Absolutely! A common request is to change standard screens for shade screens to have a cooler environment on a porch, pool area, or patio. Don’t hesitate to let us know what your objective is, so we can offer the perfect solution for your situation.
